Letter to all West Point Elementary Parents/Guardians

January 31, 2019

Dear Parents & Guardians:

It is with deep sadness that we inform you that Mrs. Kathy Soisson, a fourth grade teacher at West Point Elementary school, passed away earlier today following an illness.  Mrs. Soisson was an amazing teacher who will be remembered for her constant smile and unending kindness.  She had such a positive impact on so many students, families, staff and members of the West Point Elementary community.

We want you to be aware that counselors and school psychologists from across the district, along with members of Westmoreland County’s Disaster-Crisis and Outreach Referral (DCORT) Team, will be present at West Point Elementary tomorrow and Monday to speak with any children, staff, or parents who are having difficulty dealing with this sad news.  The School Counselor, Mrs. Ciesielski, will continue to be available to students.

Due to the sensitivity of the situation and the understanding that you as parents may want to decide the best way to approach this subject with your child, we are providing resources on the school’s website under the parent section for you to use in preparing to speak to your child.

Please keep Mrs. Soisson’s family in your thoughts during this difficult time.  Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.

If you have questions or concerns, please contact either Mrs. Dell or Mrs. Ciesielski at 724-850-2270.

Sincerely,

Dr. Tammy S. Wolicki
Superintendent of Schools
